TTE535 5354 VAG IS38 UPGRADE TURBOCHARGER

The TTE535 hybrid performance turbocharger is a high-performance upgrade based on the factory IS38 platform, engineered specifically for 3rd-generation VAG 2.0 TSI engines. Developed as the next evolution after the TTE525R stage upgrade, this unit delivers Stage 3+ power capability while maintaining excellent spool characteristics and throttle response. It is designed to provide one of the most balanced hybrid IS38 performance solutions currently available.

Engineered Enhancement for EA888 Gen 3 – IS38 Platform

To build the TTE535, the original compressor assembly is replaced with a significantly larger and more efficient billet compressor wheel featuring extended-tip technology. The compressor housing is precision-milled to achieve an optimal clearance profile that matches the upgraded compressor design.

On the turbine side, the stock IS38 turbine is removed and the turbine housing is CNC-machined to accommodate a larger, lightweight 9-blade turbine wheel, improving exhaust gas flow and overall efficiency. The factory thrust bearing is also replaced with a proprietary TTE in-house manufactured 360° upgraded thrust bearing, engineered for increased durability and high-boost reliability.

Performance Flow Optimization

The turbocharger is fitted with a CNC-machined TTE silencer delete modification. This process removes the original internal baffles from the turbo discharge silencer and replaces them with a straight-through section. The result is reduced restriction, improved airflow, and a more pronounced turbo sound profile.

The custom 9-blade TTE turbine, designed exclusively by TheTurboEngineers, offers multiple advantages:

  • Increased gas flow capacity

  • Reduced back pressure

  • Lower exhaust gas temperatures

  • Support for higher, safer boost levels

Its lightweight construction reduces rotational inertia, allowing faster spool-up and sharper response despite its increased size.

Precision Balancing & Quality Assurance

Accurate balancing is fundamental to TTE turbocharger performance and longevity. Each unit undergoes a meticulous multi-stage balancing process:

  1. Component pre-balancing at low speeds up to 2,800 RPM across multiple planes.

  2. Assembly balancing once the rotating components are combined.

  3. Dynamic VSR balancing of the complete CHRA at speeds up to 250,000 RPM, depending on application.

This process achieves balance tolerances significantly exceeding OEM standards, ensuring optimal durability, performance stability, and refined acoustics. Every turbocharger is supplied with a serial-numbered balance test report verifying its calibration.
