Engineering Concept

The TTE480+ begins as a brand-new standard K04-064 turbocharger, which is fully disassembled and meticulously upgraded to create our highest-performance K04-frame hybrid. It represents the pinnacle of power development for 2.0 TFSI applications while preserving the original K04 housing architecture for straightforward installation.

Advanced Compressor System

At the core of the upgrade is a significantly larger billet compressor wheel. This next-generation design features ultra-thin blades that maximize airflow efficiency relative to size, resulting in an exceptionally wide compressor map. The compressor cover is precision-machined to optimized tolerances for peak efficiency, while the inlet pipe is CNC-ported to ensure smooth airflow transition from the intake connection.

Optimized Flow and Acoustics

A CNC-machined silencer delete is integrated into the compressor outlet system. The discharge silencer is modified by removing internal baffles and installing a straight-through section, eliminating restriction and reducing turbulence. This improves flow characteristics, minimizes surge, and enhances the turbocharger’s acoustic profile.

High-Flow Turbine Upgrade

To effectively drive the enlarged compressor, the unit is fitted with a substantially larger 9-blade high-flow turbine and shaft assembly. This upgrade significantly reduces back pressure and lowers exhaust gas temperatures compared to the stock turbine or smaller hybrid alternatives, enabling higher sustained power output while maintaining reliability.

Ported Manifold Integration

For optimal exhaust energy delivery, the exhaust manifold is CNC-ported at the cylinder head flange. This ensures a smooth transition from the cylinder head to the runners, maximizing gas velocity and improving turbine efficiency.

High-Performance Bearing System

The turbocharger incorporates a specially developed motorsport-grade journal bearing system engineered for durability under extreme loads while maintaining rapid transient response.

Reinforced Actuation

An uprated spring-loaded OE actuator is installed and secured with reinforced clamps to ensure precise boost control and dependable operation under high-performance conditions.

Precision Balancing & Quality Assurance

Balancing is a critical factor in achieving optimal longevity, performance, and acoustic refinement. Individual components are first balanced at low speed (up to 2,800 RPM) across multiple planes. After assembly, the CHRA undergoes dynamic multi-plane balancing at speeds of up to 250,000 RPM using specialized in-house equipment. Each unit is supplied with a serial-numbered balance test report, confirming calibration standards exceeding OEM specifications.
