The TTE280L performance turbocharger is a precision-engineered hybrid upgrade developed specifically for the VAG 1.8T longitudinal platform, delivering significantly increased airflow, efficiency, and durability while maintaining excellent drivability and response.

Advanced Engineering & Optimization

The TTE280L hybrid K04 turbocharger is built using a substantially larger BorgWarner 2283 billet compressor wheel, selected for its exceptional efficiency and BorgWarner Extended Tip Technology. This advanced design provides extremely high airflow for its size, combined with a wide and stable compressor map for consistent performance across the rev range.

To maximize efficiency, the compressor inlet is CNC-machined from billet and hand-polished, ensuring a smooth transition from the intake pipework to the larger compressor wheel. This process reduces turbulence, improves airflow velocity, and enhances overall compressor efficiency. The billet intake is CNC-profiled and precisely matched to the compressor cover, with optimized tolerances and clearances for peak performance.

High-Flow Turbine & Exhaust Optimization

The exhaust turbine housing is CNC re-profiled, and the exhaust outlet is ported to accommodate a larger TTE 9-blade high-flow turbine and shaft. This upgrade significantly increases exhaust gas flow, reducing back pressure and lowering exhaust gas temperatures. As a result, the turbocharger supports safer operation at higher boost levels while maintaining reliability.

Durability & Control

A special-profile 360-degree high-performance BorgWarner motorsport journal bearing is installed to ensure durability under increased loads, without compromising transient response. Boost control is handled by an uprated BorgWarner actuator with reinforced spring, providing stable and precise boost regulation under demanding conditions.

Precision Balancing & Equilibrium

Achieving perfect balance is a critical aspect of every TTE upgrade turbocharger, as longevity, performance, and acoustics are paramount. Each component is first balanced individually at low speeds (up to 2,800 RPM) in multiple planes using our single-part balancing equipment.

Once assembled, the CHRA is dynamically balanced using our in-house VSR machine, operating at speeds of up to 250,000 RPM, depending on the application. This process ensures an equilibrium standard significantly exceeding OEM specifications.

Every TTE280L turbocharger is supplied with a serial-numbered balance test certificate, confirming its precision, quality, and performance integrity.
