The TTE550 Stage 3 Hybrid Turbocharger by TheTurboEngineers is engineered specifically for the 2.0L AMG M133 four-cylinder engine found in the Mercedes-AMG A45, CLA45, and GLA45 models. Designed as a high-performance upgrade, the TTE550 delivers substantial power gains while maintaining reliability, drivability, and fast response characteristics.

Advanced Compressor & Turbine Engineering

To create the TTE550, the original compressor assembly is replaced with a significantly larger and more efficient billet compressor wheel featuring extended tip technology. The compressor cover is precision CNC-machined to achieve optimal clearance, ensuring maximum efficiency and airflow performance tailored to the upgraded wheel profile.

On the turbine side, the factory turbine is replaced with a specially developed TTE lightweight 9-blade turbine. The turbine housing is CNC-machined to accommodate the enlarged turbine geometry, allowing substantially increased exhaust gas flow.

The proprietary 9-blade turbine design offers several key advantages:

  • Increased gas flow capacity

  • Reduced exhaust back pressure

  • Lower exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs)

Upgraded Bearing System

The original bearing assembly is replaced with a TTE performance bearing pack, incorporating a 360-degree thrust bearing system. This upgrade enhances load capacity, durability, and stability under high boost and high-RPM operating conditions.

Precision Balancing – Ultimate Equilibrium

Precision balancing is a critical factor in every TTE turbocharger, directly influencing longevity, efficiency, acoustics, and overall performance.

Each TTE550 undergoes a rigorous multi-stage balancing process:

  1. Component Pre-Balancing – Individual rotating components are balanced at low speeds (up to 2,800 RPM) across multiple planes using specialized single-part balancing equipment.

  2. CHRA Dynamic Balancing – Once assembled, the complete CHRA (Center Housing Rotating Assembly) is dynamically balanced at speeds of up to 250,000 RPM using TTE’s in-house VSR (Vibration Sorting Rig) machine.

This comprehensive process achieves balance tolerances significantly exceeding OEM standards, ensuring smooth operation at extreme rotational speeds.

Every turbocharger is supplied with a serial-numbered balance test certificate, verifying the precise equilibrium achieved during production.
